WEEK-LONG TRIPS

Responding to the survey that accompanied the Ski Club Directors ballot, the two most desired locations for next year were Steamboat Colorado and Jackson Hole Wyoming. Yes, we have scheduled two very exciting and fun filled trips for the 2009-2010 season.

Steamboat Springs, Colorado -- 7 night air trip

January 23 - 30, 2010

Enjoy the "old west" culture, stunning scenery, and awesome winter fun with your good friends in Steamboat Springs at the height of the winter season.

We fly SBA to Denver Saturday morning, transfer to a short Hayden flight, then an easy 40 minute bus to Steamboat Springs Ski Resort. There is no need for any other travel arrangements on this trip.

We spend 7 nights at the "on mountain" Phoenix Condos - 100 yards from the lifts (they have shuttle service every 10 minutes if you prefer to be completely pampered). We are staying in 4 bedroom/4 bath condos with full kitchen - the best for everyone.

See: http://www.mtn-resorts.com/Steamboat_Springs_Vacation_Rental.php?ID=52 for full details.

We are 1 block from the Mountain Plaza and right where all the action, dining, and dancing is. There is frequent and late night free shuttle service to town for the pubs, stores, galleries, and everything else that you might want.

We ski 5 days in one of the best resorts in the country.

Included is a welcome Wine and Cheese party Saturday night and a great farewell dinner on Friday night.

After skiing on Wednesday, we will bus over to the famous Steamboat Hot Springs for an outdoor adventure and some good snacks and refreshments. Those who want to cross country ski over to the Hot Springs can ride back with the rest of us on the bus.

We leave Saturday 1 pm and back into Santa Barbara for a nice evening after such a great trip.

At this time, there are no alternative arrangements available - you can get your own airfare but all the rest of the trip is fixed and committed. We may not have the ability for a single room upgrade based on the limited number of rooms available.

Trip is limited to 32 people (at this time) so sign up early and enjoy some of the best snow in the country.

Cost: $1250 - includes airfare, 7 nights lodging, 5 days lift tickets, Hot Springs trip, farewell dinner, and all the fun you can have. Any additional airline imposed luggage fees are above and beyond published rates.

Payment Schedule:
$250 due by 10/1
$500 due by 11/1
$750 due by 12/1
$1250 due by 1/1

Refund Policy:
Once Airfare is purchased (November 1), you own that ticket and are responsible for all charges associated with transfer of name or any other changes.
Full refund of the land package up to December 1 (60 days from trip) minus $25 fee to travel agent.
No refund after Dec 1, 2009. We may be able to switch names but expect a $150 airlines change fee.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming -- 7 night air trip

February 27 - March 6, 2010

Enjoy a different visit to "old west" culture, stunning scenery, and awesome winter fun with your good friends in Jackson at the height of the winter season.

We fly SBA to Salt Lake Saturday 1 pm, transfer to a Jackson flight arriving 5:30 pm, then an easy 20 minute bus to downtown Jackson. There is no need for any other travel arrangements on this trip.

We spend 7 nights at the 49'ers Hotel and Suites - 1 block from all the downtown action (Cowboy Bar, at least 50 restaurants, hundreds of galleries and stores, and lots of fun.) We are staying in hotel style rooms but the 49'er has hot continental breakfast each morning, plus both indoor and outdoor hot tubs, sauna, and fitness room. Those wishing to upgrade to suites or even to the Cowboy Village can for a slight $$ increase.

See: http://www.townsquareinns.com/49er-inn for full details.

We have a 5 day lift ticket to Jackson Hole (located in Teton Village about 14 miles from town) or for $25 more, you can upgrade the Wednesday ticket to Grand Targhee (which includes bus transportation over to the best powder that exists in Wyoming). We will use special hotel bus transportation to Teton Village (cost is included) and many of you will want to stay a bit in the village for après ski activities.

We have one open day for those who want to shop, snowmobile, tour Yellowstone, or buy another day at Jackson. I will work with you all and get the best snowmobile and Yellowstone options and will provide a list of options.

Included is a welcome Wine and Cheese party Saturday night, a pub crawl on Thursday night and a great farewell banquet on Friday night.

We leave Saturday morning 7 am and are back into Santa Barbara at noon for a relaxing afternoon after such a great trip.

At this time, there are no alternative arrangements available - you can get your own airfare but all the rest of the trip is fixed and committed. We do have the ability for a single room upgrade if desired.

Cancelation and Refunds:

The trip deposit remains at $100 per trip per person. Trips must be paid in full (65), sixty five days before the trip. Your deposit is refundable, less a $20 admin fee, if you cancel in writing via e-mail to: mammothtrips@sbski.org no less than sixty five days before the trip. This policy is necessary as we must cancel extra condos sixty five days prior to each trip. We will only reserve enough condos to accommodate those members who have paid in full sixty five days prior to the trip. Adding people to a trip after the "sixty five days prior" point will only be possible if there is room on the bus and more condos are available, or if someone cancels. The all-important sixty five day date, along with the e-mail address to cancel, will be clearly marked in bold lettering on the official Mammoth Trips flyer. You'll also receive at least one reminder one week prior to the sixty five day date.

One policy that caused confusion last year must be clarified. If you discover that you cannot go on a trip after the sixty five day cancellation date, you will forfeit your entire payment. You may not "sell" your position to someone else. If we are able to fill the bus and all the condos we have reserved, and in addition, refill your space, we will be able to reimburse most of your payment.

Some of the Fine Print:

Couples and Singles:

Couples are guaranteed a Queen or King bed in a private bedroom with adjoining bathroom. Singles will be sleeping in a room/loft with multiple twin beds. We make every effort to have every person comfortable but you will share a room/loft. (Same gender room guaranteed).

The Boss:

Each trip will have one trip "boss" and each condo will have one condo "boss".

The condo "boss" can assign all kinds of mean and evil duties such as doing dishes, taking out the trash, turning off the lights and lowering the heat, or being responsible for the keys. Don’t mess with the “boss”

Alcohol/Drugs/Pets etc:

All persons on the trip MUST be current Ski Club members. No drugs/pets/persons under 21 years old allowed. Alcohol may be provided as part of a social mixer or hot tub party but it will be limited to reasonable quantities. If you want to drink more heavily, bring your own supply.

NO GLASS is allowed anywhere near the hot tub area.

Parties:

There are informal parties both ways on all bus trips and usually every night after skiing in the hot tub area. These are social gatherings where it is fun to visit with other club members and relax. Participation is encouraged but by no means required.

We may schedule a “group pot luck dinner” on Saturday night. Participation is encouraged but not required. Each condo is assigned to bring specific food based on expected participation.

Parking:

On bus trips, parking will be available for a fee of $8 per vehicle. Vehicles left at Earl Warren are left at your own risk. The Club does not assume any responsibility for vehicles or their contents.

Key Deposit/Damages:

Condo occupants are responsible for this deposit. Condo occupants are responsible for all condo damages/losses incurred. Be careful and treat these units like they are your own property and you will generally be safe.

Current S. B. Ski & Sports Club membership
is required to sign up and participate in ski trips
