It is my pleasure to welcome everyone to the Santa Barbara Ski and Sports Club for another exciting season of fun. We've had a great year filled with adventurous and exciting trips as well as great social events, including: themed parties, summer sports; tennis, golf, camping, hiking, kayaking, bowling, bike riding and more.
I've been a member of the ski club for the past 7 years and my skiing has improved tenfold since I joined. I've also met wonderful people who have become best friends. You don't have to be an expert skier/snowboarder to join, we always select destinations that will be enjoyable for all levels and offer many options...including shopping! We also welcome snowboarders, many of our members are, and organize trips that are appealing to both boarders and skiers at all levels.
Our kick-off meeting for the winter season will take place in September at the Chase Palm Park Recreation Center located at 236 E. Cabrillo Blvd. When you join at the Kick-off meeting, you will receive our ski-club newsletter "The Sitzmark". Meetings are scheduled from September to April on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month and are held at Chase Palm Park Recreation Center. At these meetings, members sign up for trips, listen to fun and entertaining guests, get a chance to participate in the raffle, volunteer/get involved in other club sponsored events and socialize/meet new friends.
Our enthusiastic board is in the process of planning some great trips for the 2008/09 seasons. These are affordable, fun and well-organized events that will make it easy for everyone. We are still in the process of finalizing the new trips however some of the options include: Mammoth, Vail - Colorado, Lake Tahoe and more.
Membership in our club is very affordable and is a great way to participate in other activities at a discount. You can download the application on this website and bring/mail it in, and join at anytime. Our roster is up to 250 members, ages from 21 to 80. The club has been in existence for over 50 years and is a Santa Barbara institution.
